Also, a splash of Triple Sec and a wedge of real lime, squeezed in and run around the rim of the glass.

Also, Rusty Nail.

Also, hard cider.

Also, cheap red wine.

Also, an old-style chocolate egg cream from a New York diner. (There are no eggs in an egg cream.)

Also, home brewed iced tea with mint from my garden.

Also, home brewed mead. (Wine made from honey.) I have ten gallons fermenting in my pantry as I type.Marchelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11201825708442679157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5239771833657791594.post-47124943715614704582013-04-03T22:19:49.735-05:002013-04-03T22:19:49.735-05:00Since late college, my rule has been that no self-...Since late college, my rule has been that no self-respecting adult orders a drink with more than two alcohols and one mixer. Preferably, either just two alcohols, one alcohol and one mixer, or just on alcohol. I don't hate super sweet fruity mixed drinks with girly names because it's suddenly cool to do so; I hate them because of their inherent hateability. I was a big fan of the classics long before Mad Men. I'm not going to hate them now that they're popular. I like Manhattans. I like Screwdrivers. I like Rob Roys, and Gimlets, and Martinis, because they don't pretend to be candy. They are honest about being alcohol. But most of all I like Scotch and its relatives because 1) I'm old now and it's sipping drink so I am not tempted to just toss them down, 2) it tastes like awesome, and 3) you never have to worry abut mixing it right. But speaking of Mad Men, I had the perfect Mad Men drink a while ago, out at a trendy restaurant. Smoky mescal, violet liquor, lemon/blackberry/lavender garnishes, some other liquor....smelled like smoke and perfume, and tasted pretty much the same, though it ended up being delicious. Broke my rule, but occasionally that's what rules are for. Justin Bowerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11918590992060850747noreply@blogger.com
